Again, typical chain spot to relax, eat, and get your drink on… This specific.margarita wasn’t too strong, but def. tasty! :) No complaints here except if you sit in the Happy Hour section, don’t expect your waiter to check on you…….at all. Lol I don’t usually mind this, but when I’m trying to order more food or drinks, and my waiter is nowhere to be found…it’s a problem as well as trying to get the check. I know it’s busy, but I see plenty of servers just standing around talking to people at certain tables. This probably won’t change, and I’ll still be a customer… Why? Because the food/drinks/atmosphere are just that good :)

Yogurt Soju from Cafe Chocolate in Annandale, VA

Yummmmm! You might think dairy and alcohol don’t mix, but don’t be so hasty to shoot down the idea! If you’re Asian(or not) you might remember having those tiny Korean yogurt drinks with the red foil top you peel back before chugging it down. Well, this is the grown up version… Part Yogurt drink, part Sprite, part Soju, and you have one of the tastiest alcoholic concoctions ever! It’ll take more to get you stupid wasted, but then again, remember soju is a creeper. One minute you’re knocking back shots like no tomorrow, the next… Well… You don’t really remember the next :P $14 per carafe, split between a few people lets you afford multiple rounds… Good times guaranteed ;) What may be a selling point or deal breaker, depending on your preferences, is that they allow smoking in the venue. Take that as you may, but be prepared to reak of smoke when leaving.

After the super sweet bartender at El Tio re-mixed our Frozen Mango Margarita to be a lil less strong, it wouldn’t fit into one glass… The result, TWO Giant Mango Margaritas…for the price of one… Granted, all he added was ice and more sour mix, I thought it showed how well they treat their customers here.

WARNING: The “Large” is ENORMOUS. I went with a friend after hearing their happy hour specials were amazing, but forgot that they didn’t extend into the weekend… So instead, we got one Large marg to share. IT. WAS. HUGE! And the best part, it tasted AWESOME too! For $12 you can enjoy an oversized Margarita of your choice in flavor! They had several to choose from, we went with the mango and proceded to enjoy. The bartender was super friendly, my friend had a little too much the night before and didn’t want as strong of a drink… He re-mixed it for us and it was enough for 2 whole glasses! I don’t know what kind of tequila they use, or if I was just really weaksauce that day, but damnit that ONE shared drink got me tipsy, almost to the point of drunk! I will DEFINITELY be back to try their HH as well as other foods and drinks! Oh, and did I mention FREE chips & salsa? Yeah, it happened. Lol Go to El Tio to try for yourself!! :)

STRONG & Tastyyy! What more could you want? $4 during Happy Hour but apparently only on certain days… I only know this because I went on a different day to try and order it again and they said it wasn’t a special for that day. Boo :(

Daily specials! This place has a super chill feel. The bartender was nice and helpful, the other patrons were also nice. No creeper guys that just wanna get in some pants, just friendly convos like a neighborhood bar. The age range is huuuuge! You’ll see old business men with their tablets doing work while grabbing a brew, young college kids living up the cheap specials, and everyone in between taking in the ambiance and liquid lovin! Their appetizers are only $4.99 on certain days! Try the Calamari! I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the apps as well.

Peach Soju from Cafe Chocolate in Annandale, VA

As you can see, my friends and I enjoyed this so much, I forgot to take a picture until it was nearly gone! Twas delicious, peachy, with a weak hint of soju. *Note to self, don’t overdrink this because it’s so tasty… the morning after does not go well!

Pomegranate Margarita with “Sea Salt Air” from Oyamel in DC.

What I’ll say about this drink… SALTY. I honestly couldn’t tell you if this super pricey marg is worth your while due to the fact that the “sea salt air” (that white foam on top in the pic) was SO overwhelming! It felt like taking a giant gulp of the ocean before tasting the bittersweet pomegranate lime tequila drink itself… Maybe my palette isn’t refined enough for this adventurous drink from the future, but I know salty when I taste it… Stick to a salt rim margarita, or attempt to spoon the “air” off.
